WELCOME TO THE ROTTWEILER LEATHERS WEBSITE!!

August, 2008

Wow!  Summer's almost over already!  For us up in the more northern region of our good North America, the weather will start changing soon.  Here in Vancouver we had a lousy spring, an absolutely unbelieveable July, almost record breaking sunshine!  August is seeing a bit of precipitation here and there.  Starts us all thinking about the cooler weather riding season once again.  Time to evaluate the leathers and upgrade where necessary.  Remember, we have jackets with removable liners, you can custom order your chaps and pants with lining, even Thinsulate if you need it!

We will post new styles shortly and give you many options for customizing your second skin.  Have an idea you want made up?  give us a shout, we can probably do it for you.

Spring 2008

Well, it seems as though this might be the end of an era for Rottweiler Motorcycle Leathers and time to forge on to new frontiers.  We have just received a "cease and desist" letter from the Indian Motorcycle Corporation in Kings Mountain, NC.  It is ordering us to stop marketing and selling this old inventory using the Indian trademark.  It doesn't look as though the new apparel company, Iconic American Brands will be using us for their leathers for Indian either.

It is sad for us because Indian has been a part of our daily life here since 1990.  We saw the glory days here in Canada when the brand was considered high-end fashion and was in all the coolest fashion boutiques alongside the likes of Replay Jeans, Blue System, Diesel, etc.  Then a decade later another boom time for Indian Motorcycles with the relaunching of the bike out of Gilroy, CA.  We hung on after they folded in 2003 making leathers, shirts, hats etc. for the surviving web fulfillment center and then on our website selling the remaining inventory left over from "Black Friday" (Sept. 19, 2003 when they folded).

Anyway, I have informed them that we are always here and ready to do something for the brand we so love and support.  We wish Indian Motorcycles the true success that it deserves.  Until we actually receive our letter from Indian we will sell any remaining stock here at the factory so this is your last chance on the classic styles we have produced for the last 17 years.

Thanks to all who have supported us and we hope that you will continue to support our Rottweiler brand.  If Indian crests become available from Indian, send them to us and we will make you a jacket and attach the crest!

CHECK OUT OUR INDIAN MOTORCYCLE ARCHIVES PAGE!  This page will take a long time to load but have some patience if you want to see a bunch of the things we have made for Indian over the last 17 years.  It's quite a collection.  Keep checking because as I find images I will add them.

Coming soon...   We have partnered up with our supplier of domestic buffalo leather to do some fun new things.  The leather (due from production in April)  will be oil resistant, water proof, and very tough.  We will be creating a line of buffalo and oilskin jackets for both motorcycle and the workwear industries.  We are very excited about it and will let you all know though our newsletter and right h

Rottweiler has been making leather jackets in Vancouver since 1995 and have built a reputation for solid quality and durability.  We hope you enjoy your visit.  If you have any questions be sure to call or email us and we will be happy to help you out!

Got pictures of you wearing our stuff on an interesting trip?  Send one over and we'll post it for you.  We've had a bunch of people say they would do that but so far only one from Russia!  Check this one out below!

 LEATHER CARE NEWS:

Check out our store for a leather waterproofing/conditioning product we have added called OK Oil.  We have put it in every store category so it won't be hard to find.  We are quite happy with this product as it seems to do a very nice job on our motorcycle leathers for keeping you a little dryer and you leather a bit softer.  Have a look at the product for the full story.

Have you seen us yet in that clip on Driving Television?  We made this deadly outfit for Dagmar Midcap, the host, in four days!  I was very nervous in front of the camera, and it was stressful getting the leather pants and jacket done and fitting right in that short time.  You can't see the detail very well in the video but it was a very cool outfit!  Check it out....

HEY MALDEV!!  CHECK THIS OUT!!

Here is a salute to one amazing organization!  What an awesome club!  I have met a whole bunch of you through email and phone calls.  Everyone is very, very cool.  And everybody seems to know everybody else!  What a great sense of community built on the love of this truly iconic brand of motorcycles, and getting out and riding with a bunch of very cool people.

I say that anybody that owns an Indian, old or new, should be contacting these guys and signing up.  Any Iron Indian Riders that have one of the great leather pieces we have made can email us a picture and we will post it in a new page.  Anything goes, but show us your ride and your leather!  Cool places, unusual situations, getting a ticket from the state's finest... You send it and I'll create the page for it.

Anyone interested in this great organization should visit their website at www.ironindian.com

RIDE ON!!!

This is a new idea for my website.  Over the years I have come across some very cool people doing business that have either a great product or service and are honorable in business.  When you run a business for a long time you get to know who is full of it and who has it together.

This is not a "links exchange" page, this is like a personal endorsement.  Most of the people whose websites are listed on this page won't even know that I am doing this.  I think this is a great way to send business to those who deserve it or will meet or exceed expectations.  From local to around the world, I will try to give some background on each one.  It will end up being an interesting read.  Some will be customers, some will be suppliers, and some are just cool people that I have come across in my travels and want to let you know about.
